Komi is a social psychologist focused on academic freedom in higher education. She graduated with highest honors from the University of California, Davis, then completed her Ph.D. at the University of California, Riverside, where she received the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. In her dissertation research, she investigated the complex interplay of values shaping professors' perspectives on diversity, equity, and inclusion policies in academia. Now, as the director of faculty outreach, Komi is building a nationwide coalition of faculty dedicated to defending free speech and inquiry. She is also a visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania, conducting research with the Adversarial Collaboration Project. Her goal is to protect and contribute to the production and dissemination of knowledge on controversial topics.
