Karl de Vries

Karl de Vries is ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵAPP¹ÙÍø’s director of media relations, joining the nation’s preeminent First Amendment legal advocacy organization after a long career in journalism. His work has appeared in a variety of outlets, including Fox News, Newsday, The Star-Ledger of Newark, New Jersey, and official Major League Baseball publications. Most recently, Karl was a senior editor for CNN, where he helped manage a team of reporters and editors in Washington, DC, across such fast-moving beats as the White House, Congress, multiple presidential campaigns and state legislative activity. His journalism career began at Montclair State University, where ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵAPP¹ÙÍø came to the defense of his college newspaper, The Montclarion, after its free press rights were threatened by the student government. A native of New Jersey, where he learned how to argue — and often lose an argument — as a Mets fan in a Yankees fan’s world, Karl now resides in Virginia with his family.
